Announcements / Admin

  • First sync of this term!

  • Still have not heard back from Laura regarding flight test bookings… @Hardy Yu might be time for you to come in and joker card us… In theory we are allowed to fly on public property or private property with permission, as long as there’s an open space. Wrestrc is just a takeoff point far away from things.

    • We should still be thinking about what we want to flight test, and what that progression looks like.

    • Our goal is still to have an E2E test completed by the end of the term (even if it’s relatively poor performance)

    • Discussion about timeline: https://app.asana.com/0/1205380809516388/1205381539262802

      •

    • Think about what things we’d want to characterize and that are important before the weather gets colder.

  • Thinking about budgeting! Keep it in our minds

  • Conops not out yet - we KNOW that there will be a technical paper

Action items (we do these right now)

  • Requirements for ESC cases vs. we go with what we have right now and fix it later if it becomes an issue.

    • Go with what we have! no objections.

    • No strain relief (aidan) → to be added for safety.

  • Give timelines for your projects. I’ll build these into asana now. we can always adjust them later but the earlier I can do this the more likely it is to get done

Updates / Blockers / Finished items

Frame status:ON TRACK

  • Core frame (structural frame) finished (rev 1, initial versions of everything)

  • 3D printed arm mounting/spacers tight now.

  • Landing gear not feeling super good right now.

    • Hoping to shorten landing gear once cabin is determined

  • Pushing for sensor integration mounts

  • Smile to bring monster cam soon (opflow, lidar, pilot cam)

  • Needs timeline for kicking this off…

Payload status:NOT STARTED

  • Not sure about action plan so far

  • Battery shroud to be coming soon

Aero status:not started

ggers

Sensors status:WAITING DESIGN REVIEW

  • Documents in progress.

  • Conops & Cabin dependent

  • TBD.

Harnessing status:Delayed

  • Neel + Nathan + ? wired up 3-phase through tubes. MT30’s on center block and bullet connectors on motor ends.

  • Big wiring session by EE went pre well.

  • Gender of XT60’s was reversed. (and maybe 3-phase)

  • Have (3) people review solder + bench test before putting into system.

Gemini status:delayed

  • Michael finished Rev1 of PCB this weekend.

    • Internal comments need to be written down / justified in confluence.

    • May have outstanding comments?

  • @Michael Botros to request ELRS discord review.

  • Need to send BOM & get IC’s ordered. Everything in stock.

  • @Daniel Puratich provided more review (it’s really really close, super good work from Michael!)

  • Need to ensure correct baud rate across the system.

  • Anni to document TX16 internal → EP1 rx → gemini tx → gemini rx → FC

Antenna Tracker

  • From Arjun - Yaw only done

  • Pitch component almost done.

    • Working on slimming down overall weight/size

    • Small tweaks & fixes to lessen weight of mechanism

    • Need to order parts & Build

Yaw only antenna tracker
Yaw & Pitch model

Questions:

  • Where are batteries going?

  • Communication with groundstation?

    • Mostly wireless (gemini hops, video relays, xbee/rfd hops, etc).

    • Ideally no running wires

  • How are we not tangling cables and how are we ensuring power?

    • At least 1 servo wire. … potentially possible to flip the servo so that servo is mounted on bottom of the plate so that servo moves with the assembly

From Nolan:

  • Slowdown (hardy & nolan both busy).

  • Timeline uncertain….?

    • Current setup valid for firmware testing, just not pretty. (broken out & soldered on proto board)

From Daniel:

  • the prototype will work for firmware dev but the electronics are all splayed out. The Nucleo hat will clean things up a lot, fair to assign out to a new member, but it needs to be assigned out!

From Nolan:

  • were having issues with calibration of magnetometer. Unsure if yuchen resolved it.

From Daniel:

  • Discord convo: here

  • Issue is potentially because we are misinterpreting the data. Proof up to Yuchen

For anni:

  • Ping in yuchen next time gg

Auto-landing status:Awaiting conops

  • Mostly waiting for Conops to determine how many points we obtain for auto-landing.

  • Need to make training data as similar as we can to what we get at competition then it will perform well

  • Nothing complicated (Given the possible landing pads from cluster estimation)

    • pick 1 based on simple metrics

    •

  • Amy & Mihir working on MAVLink integration. UART1 not working

    • UART0 has debugging enabled

    • Ideal that we use UART1. Would have to disable debugging to use UART0… no way to re-flash if borked.

  • Working on dronekit for mavlink integ

await conops

Testin Goals for the week

  • Ground spinup

  • basic sensor calibrations

  • @Daniel Puratich Doing the training and will do the booking soon tm

  • Pre, flight, post

  • pick pilot/gso and get used to running through this
