Updates this week!

Admin

  • Remember to fill in the team roster if you have not done so! This is required every term: https://tinyurl.com/WARGTeamRoster

  • If you are a new member/bootcamper please make sure you have read through: New Member Onboarding - Administration - WARG (atlassian.net) and completed the required LEARN courses. If you need help with this message any of the leads!

  • If you are onsite this term please assign your self the EE on-site role in discord #role-signup

    Asana/Confluence

  • Asana cleanup ongoing

  • Make sure to document everything on Confluence! This includes all design decisions (even small ones)!! Projects with bad documentation will receive spankings

Project Updates

  • Soon we will be promoting project managers!

    • This role means you will be taking the lead on your respective project. Responsibilities include:

      • Conduct project meetings

      • Making sure Asana and Confluence is up to date for your project

      • Being the first Point of Contact for your project

      • Coordinating your other project members

      • Work with leads to plan timelines

      • Overall manage your project and make sure it comes along smoothly

  • New Project to be assigned!

    • Drone battery PCB

      • This board is a large PCB that is the size of the drone that replaces all the power wiring required for connecting the batteries and offering convenient connection points between the batteries and the power module

      • Can include some nice to have features like indicator LEDs for live power etc.

    • CAN sensor interface boards

      • These boards will allow us to connect all our peripheral sensors to a shared CAN bus

      • Requires hardware to allow interfacing between CAN protocol and whatever target communication standard is being used by the peripheral (UART, I2C, SPI etc)

    • Zeropilot 3 interface board rework

      • This project involves reworking the interface board of our custom flight controller to match pixhawk connector standards.

      • Add some novel features to Zeropilot in addition to the locking connectors

      • Will allow EFS to begin flight testing Zeropilot safely

Active PCB Projects

High Current Power Module (Zen, Chris)

  • Zen is handing off project to Taim.

12S ESC (Ethan, Chris, Saksham)

  • Power page, and three phase pages essentially done. Some components left on gate driver page. Main task right now is to finish MCU stuff.

  • Need to confirm firmware stuff in MotorControl Workbench and confirm ioc stuff in STM32CubeIDE

6S ESC (Mena, Rayyan)

  • Mena: I will book meeting with Rayyan to Sync up.

LED Controller (Neel, Parker)

  • No updates

ELRS Gemini (Michael, Farris)

  • FM: Gemini TX board finally complete! Believe plan is to order bare PCBs with 12V-5V buck PCBs, components already ordered

  • Nolan has BOM ready to go for 12-5V PCB, will need to double check.

    • Have a Digikey cart ready with Quantities.

PDB (Tom)

  • Not too much to update since the last meeting, been a grind on assignments for all classes so I can focus on WARG starting Friday.

Tracking Antenna (Nolan, Hardy)

  • Nolan: Have resumed work on the project

  • Hoping to have component selection done by next EE meeting, hopefully progress on schematics as well

    • Decent bit of component selection left.

    • Hardy looking into low battery indicator instead of voltage sensing. Working on simulating first.

12S Servo Module (Stanley, Jack, Jerry)

  • Jerry: 1st version of routing is done. But I forgot to check JLCPCB manufacturing capabilities…
Some other tasks are written down on asana.

Drone Wiring

  • Bench power up and Pegasus spin up upcoming

    • Bench power up requires us to come up with testing plan for ESC + Motors + PDB + FC

    • Pegasus spin up requires us to have the following wired

      • ESC + Motors + PDB + Power Module + 1 GPS + RC / Telemetry links (ELRS 2.4/Tracer + RFD900)
