What do you plan to work on for next term

Goals:

  • Send out first iteration of boards to manufacturer before W22

Subsystems:

  • Power Distribution Board - Critical, board design is finished, waiting for review from Sahil, Lance and Joe. Final review stage should only take a day before design is sent out. After that, we’ll validate it with the test drone. We’ll conduct full-load testing.

    • Testing has to happen in person.

  • Flight Computer Board - Important, but is also blocked by FW having to rewrite, the approximate time from order to ready is about a month. Design should be done before break is finished, then we can order everything before Jan 2nd to get everything in.

  • Gimbal Board - Simple board with 4 components, already done with the design but it has not been ordered yet but will be ready to ordered in bulk.

  • Battery Management System - Non-critical, no real action, assume doesn’t exist for now.

  • Motor Controllers - Non-critical, board is done

Issues

  • Low manpower and especially low expertise. We need more people to be present to provide reviews.

    • Focus on recruiting advisors, 1-3 more would be ideal.

    • Look into making an electrical co-lead, ideally have them start in January. Makes the onboarding a little bit easier.

    • Try and split onboarding with someone else.

How do you run your team?

  • Weekly meetings, meeting notes are taken by each person.

  • Asana is not used much beyond a checklist, as long as the entire task is captured, maintain a backlog where you put tickets that are unassigned or don’t need to be worked on.
